In Love
With Microscopy
All the magic happens in the uncharted territory of the seemingly invisible worlds. Under the microscope’s lens, we dive into the fascinating dimensions of cellular structures, microorganisms, and nanoscale wonders, where beauty and complexity lie beneath the surface.
Our society fosters curiosity and camaraderie among budding microscopists. Our members share a common reverence for the profound impact that the world of microscopy has on various scientific disciplines, from biology to material science.
Our Team
Our team gathers microscopy enthusiasts from multiple research institutions with a diverse range of expertise. Join us!

Eva Ďurinová
President
A PhD student of Biophysics at the University of South Bohemia in Ceske Budejovice, with focus on electron, fluorescence and Raman microscopy of biological specimen. My main project is studying the replication of avian reovirus inside cytoplasmic viral factories. Currently employed at the Imaging Methods Laboratory (BIOCEV).

Kateřina Mrázová
Vice President
A PhD student at the Brno University of Technology and Institute of Scientific Instruments of the CAS, with focus on electron microscopy and sample preparation. My main project is studying various biotechnologically relevant microbial-based samples.

Martin Strnad
Board member
A Postdoc at the Biology Centre of the Czech Academy of Sciences, interested in studying adhesion and migration strategies of Lyme disease Borrelia using fluorescence, electron and atomic force microscopy. Former president of yCSMS.

Lukáš Průcha
Board Member
A PostDoc working at the Institute of Scientific Instruments of the CAS in the group Microscopy and Spectroscopy of Surfaces. My specialization is materials engineering and 2D materials with a focus on graphene – its production, analysis, and applications. My main focus is on low-energy SEM and STEM and analysis of very thin layers.

Viktória Pevná
Board Member
A PhD student at P. J. Safarik University in Kosice (Slovakia) with a focus on confocal fluorescence microscopy. My main project is studying the mechanism and processes arising after the application of photodynamic therapy to a 3D model of tumor cells.
